The Ministry of Finance plans further actions to reduce the VAT gap. Deputy Minister of Finance Jan Sarnowski announces a new opening in this tax. We will learn the details next year. The Ministry of Finance also wants to estimate the gap in CIT.

The ministry is to provide details next year, but deputy minister Jan Sarnowski said about several elements of the activities. o – Given the large countries of the European Union, the country with the smallest VAT gap is France. In Poland it is 9.5 percent, in France – 5 percent. This means that the VAT gap in VAT could be further reduced. We would like to strive in this direction. At the same time, we must remember that the tax gap consists of several elements, they are not just extortion – he noted.

The deputy finance minister emphasized that this is not just about the activities of the National Tax Administration. All new e-government services will be important for sealing the tax system. Among the tools that can be expected in the perspective of 2020, he listed the so-called on-line virtual cash registers or e-receipts . He also pointed to the gradual introduction of the e-Tax Office. He also announced that in the perspective of 2021 you can also talk about e-invoice.
A pilot is currently underway, which requires that e-invoices be accepted between government and companies.

Sarnowski announced that the new opening in VAT will be associated with its simplification and change of approach. – We would like to conduct a permanent audit of VAT solutions towards simplifying this tax and removing unnecessary barriers – he said. He added that it is a concept of the so-called SLIM VAT – simple, local and modern, i.e. we will get to know the details next year.

The deputy minister of finance also informed that in the perspective of the year the ministry should present the first estimates of the amount of the CIT gap in Poland. In September this year, the program for calculating its size in Poland began. The program is financed by the European Commission and implemented by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the World Bank. – I hope it will be a kind of incentive to assess the effectiveness of system sealing tools introduced in recent years – he noted. He added that the finance ministry would also like to estimate the size of the excise tax gap.
