ATO Notice on Collection of Sales Data from Online Selling Platforms to Promote Compliance

The Australian Taxation Office has announced the publication of a notice in the Official Gazette regarding its collection of sales data from online selling platforms. The data will be used to promote compliance, identify individuals and businesses failing to meet their obligations, and assist them in complying. The ATO will acquire Australian sales data from online selling platforms for the years 2023–24 to 2025–26, including client identification details, account details, and other relevant information. The program aims to promote voluntary compliance, gain insights from the data, identify and educate non-compliant individuals and businesses, and ensure fulfillment of tax and superannuation obligations. More information about the program is available on the ATO website.
