- The Ministry of Finance announced that mandatory electronic invoicing for business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions will start from January 1, 2025.
- Businesses can start using the RO e-Invoice system from July 1, 2024, with mandatory adoption for all businesses issuing consumer invoices from January 1, 2025.
- Minister Marcel Bolos highlighted that this aligns with EU discussions on standardized electronic invoicing for B2B and B2C transactions.
- Exemptions include businesses issuing non-VAT-related invoices and certain entities, with exemptions for associations, foundations, and individual farmers until June 30, 2025.
- Enforcement measures include invoice reporting and mandatory use by enforcement bodies. Updates to electronic fiscal cash registers include amendments to tax receipts and the implementation of QR codes.
