Ghana continues the VAT e-invoicing system roll-out

Ghana’s Revenue Authority (GRA) has published a list of businesses invited to onboard the VAT e-invoicing system, aiming to onboard 600 VAT-registered taxpayers by June 2024. The second phase of the e-invoicing system, e-VAT, will include large and over 2000 small and medium taxpayers and is expected to be completed by December 2024. The 2024 Budget Statement also announced various changes related to VAT, including the requirement for e-VAT invoices, implementation of “upfront VAT” on imports, changes in VAT rates for commercial properties, review of VAT exemptions, and extension of zero-rating of VAT on certain items.
