The 53rd GST Council meeting chaired by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi made recommendations on changes in GST tax rates, trade facilitation, and streamlining compliances. The recommendations include changes in GST rates for goods such as uniform 5% IGST on aircraft parts, 12% GST on all milk cans, and reducing GST on cartons, boxes, and cases from 18% to 12%. It also includes extending IGST exemption on imports for defense forces and research equipment/buoys.
