Estonia’s Financial Revolution: Accounting Act Amendments Passed

The Estonian Ministry of Finance has approved amendments to the Accounting Act, focusing on a more efficient, digital-first economy. The key updates include standardized e-invoicing practices, enhanced flexibility for businesses, and mandatory readiness for machine-readable e-invoices by January 2025. These changes aim to minimize human intervention and promote seamless machine-to-machine communication. The legislation, set to be implemented on January 1, 2025, will empower buyers to demand proper e-invoices, setting a new standard in the real-time economy.
