Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive approved by the European Parliament

The draft directive on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) was approved by the European Parliament despite Germany’s initial rejection. The directive aims to hold businesses operating in the EU accountable for human rights and environmental protection throughout their supply chain. Germany already has the Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (LkSG) in force, which sets out internal risk management systems, report publication, and preventive measures to avoid violations. The obligations apply to the company’s business sphere and its contractual partners, covering the entire supply and value chain.
