NBR continues its VAT registration campaign to raise awareness

The NBR has recently launched a campaign for raising awareness among Bahrain businesses regarding their VAT registration obligations once they exceed the mandatory registration threshold of BHD 37,500/- in value of annual supplies. NBR has reiterated that businesses who do not comply with their VAT registration obligations may be subject to criminal penalties.

The registration for value added is an application for those who meet the conditions according to the law. Upon registration, an establishment or individual is provided with a value-added account number. VAT recovery applications are accepted only from those who have completed registration with the National Bureau of Revenue.

Who must register for VAT?
– Residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain must register if their annual supplies subject to value added exceed the mandatory registration limit of 37,500 Bahraini dinars.
– Non-residents must register within thirty days of the first supply subject to value added in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

How to register for value-added purposes?
– Register in the National Bureau of Revenue’s electronic portal and receive login details.
– Fill out required data and upload necessary documents, including eligibility criteria, contact information, economic activity details, and financial information.
