The new system to file returns will cost taxpayers KSh 1.73 billion. According to KRA’s consolidated annual procurement plan for the financial year 2023/2024, setting up the new system will cost it 17% of its projected spending plan.
The amount will be spent on acquiring the software for the system, designing it, putting up a new customs platform, a comprehensive e-invoicing system and an intelligent risk management system.
