E-invoicing in France – Everything You Need to Know

  • France has postponed the introduction of mandatory e-invoice clearing, which was originally set for 1 July 2024.
  • The postponement was confirmed by the French Finance Ministry on 28 July 2023, citing the need to provide sufficient time for the successful implementation of the reform.
  • The new compliance deadlines have not yet been released, but it is assumed that they will be moved back.
  • Despite the delay, France still intends to make e-invoicing mandatory for B2B transactions and introduce continuous transactions controls (CTC).
  • The “Y approach” has been established for B2B invoicing in France, offering advantages such as free choice of e-invoice service provider and flexibility depending on the type of business.
  • The public invoicing portal known as PPF serves as a central invoice exchange hub.
