The main response has now been published. Decisions set out in the response include setting the UK ETS cap to be consistent with net zero, smoothing the transition to the net zero cap, phasing out free allocation for the aviation sector, and expanding the scope of the scheme to include additional sectors (including domestic maritime and energy from waste) and cap a greater proportion of UK emissions. There will also be further consultation on incorporating greenhouse gas removal technologies in the UK ETS.
