- Estonia’s Parliament has passed a bill that includes several amendments to the VAT Act.
- These include an increase in the standard VAT rate from 20% to 22% effective from January 1, 2024, as well as an increase in the VAT rate on accommodation from 9% to 13% effective from January 1, 2025.
- The bill also imposes a 20% VAT rate on turnover if the buyer received services prior to January 1, 2024, and a 20% VAT rate on turnover based on agreements concluded before May 1, 2023.
- Additionally, the VAT rate on paper and electronic press publications will increase from 5% to 9% effective from January 1, 2025, and a 9% VAT will be imposed on turnover if the buyer received services before January 1, 2025.
- Finally, a 5% VAT will apply on turnover if the person receives an invoice before January 1, 2025.
