The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali today called on businessmen who are in the VAT system to apply for the e-invoice system as soon as possible, assessing that the introduction of the electronic invoicing system is important because it is of great importance for better liquidity and efficiency of the economy.
At the conference “E-invoices for the economy: Newspapers in the system and legal framework from 2023”, Mali reminded that from January 1, 2023, it is mandatory to issue and keep electronic invoices in transactions between private sector entities, if they are in the VAT system , and that the benefits from it are enormous.
“We introduced e-invoices because of businessmen who asked for it in order to improve business, make it more transparent, and in the end get a VAT refund in a shorter period of time,” Mali said.
“When it comes to saving e-invoices, we keep up with digitization and new trends. The costs are lower, but the most important thing for the economy is that by matching incoming and outgoing invoices, we will be able to refund VAT within 24 to 48 hours, automatically, without additional checks and any problems. Instead of it lasting, like today, 35, 40 days, it will last a day or two,” Mali said.
