President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants the House ways and means committee to look into the feasibility of removing value-added tax on public utilities, Albay Representative Joey Salceda said Thursday.
Salceda said in a press conference that Marcos is considering removing VAT on electricity in particular.
The lawmaker said his committee would study the proposal but noted that the move could hurt the government’s revenue collection, especially in supporting social services for the poor.
