At CBW, we are sure we’re not alone in having a vast number of VAT registrations that are currently with HMRC for which we are unable to get any update. Here are some of our current experiences:
- Calls to the VAT registration team lead to listening to a recorded message to basically say that all offices are busy and to try again later! (Three weeks of calling every day to get the same message).
- A new system introduced for on-line applications on 1 August 2022 with no announcement either internally to HMRC staff or to those of us who do this regularly
