The European Commission has announced that its cross-border VAT ruling trial which aims to facilitate cross border VAT rulings for businesses on controversial or inconsistent issues, is being extended to 30 September 2018. The trial allows businesses planning cross border transactions between two or more of the participating Member States [at present, the following Member states participate in this project: Belgium, Estonia, Spain, France, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Hungary, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden and the UK] to seek a ruling on the VAT treatment of them in each country involved.
