- Case-Insensitive Invoice Numbers: Effective June 1, 2025, the Invoice Reporting Portal (IRP) will treat invoice and document numbers as case-insensitive for Invoice Reference Number (IRN) generation, automatically converting all numbers to uppercase to ensure consistency.
- Alignment with GSTR-1: This change aligns the IRP’s handling of invoice numbers with the existing case-insensitive treatment already implemented in GSTR-1, helping to prevent duplication of invoice numbers.
- Support for Taxpayers: Taxpayers are advised to take note of this update, and the GST helpdesk is available for any further clarification regarding the new IRN generation process.
