- Latvia has announced the introduction of mandatory electronic invoicing through amendments to the Accounting Law, effective January 1, 2025, with a phased approach for both government and business sectors.
- Starting January 1, 2025, resident businesses and budget entities must send e-invoices for transactions with state budget entities, with the B2B e-invoicing obligation extending to goods and services by January 1, 2026.
- E-invoices must comply with EU standards and can be submitted manually or directly from ERP systems via Latvia’s e-address platform; specific reporting rules will be announced by May 2025, marking a significant step in the digital transformation of Latvia’s invoicing system.
