Implementing InvoiceNow: IRAS Response to Public Consultation on GST e-Tax Guide

  • IRAS conducted a Public Consultation on the draft e-Tax Guide “Adopting InvoiceNow Requirement for GST-registered Businesses”
  • Received over 400 comments from 60 respondents on various topics
  • Topics included phased implementation, scope, data transmission, mandatory elements, obligations, data protection, and government support
  • IRAS will publish a revised e-Tax Guide and FAQ incorporating feedback
  • Phased implementation includes a soft launch for early adopters from 1 May 2025
  • A sandbox environment is available for testing API integration and submission of invoice data
  • Existing GST businesses do not need to activate the GST InvoiceNow feature if not joining the soft launch
  • New voluntary GST registrants will have implementation timelines of 1 November 2025 and 1 April 2026
  • IRAS will provide clarity on which businesses fall under each timeline
