UAE Introduces Legislative Amendments to Support E-Invoicing Mandate

  • The UAE Ministry of Finance issued updates through Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2024 and Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2024 to support the upcoming e-invoicing mandate, reflecting the nation’s commitment to modernizing tax processes.
  • Key changes include new definitions aligning with e-invoicing procedures, mandatory retention of compliant tax invoices for input VAT recovery (Article 55), and requirements for issuing all invoices and credit notes in electronic format (Articles 65 and 70).
  • Updated Article 76 introduces penalties for non-compliance with the e-invoicing mandate, reinforcing the framework’s adherence and aiming to streamline tax reporting and enhance compliance across the UAE.
