Venezuela published Decree No. 4.985 on 30 August 2024, further extending the temporary exemption from VAT and customs duty on the definitive import of certain goods. The exemption, originally provided by Decree No. 4.907 from 1 January to 30 June 2024 and subsequently extended to 31 August 2024, includes a 90% exemption on over 1,500 imported new or used tangible goods and a 100% exemption on over 400 imported new or used tangible goods for which a certification of no or insufficient national production is issued. Exemptions are also provided on goods imported by specified entities. The VAT exemptions are extended to 31 December 2024.
