On 7 August 2024, the National Assembly passed the law that will see the introduction of the Euro into Bulgaria. The adoption of Euro is subject to Bulgaria fulfilling a number of criteria. According to experts’ opinions if the respective criteria are considered fulfilled in 2024, Euro may be adopted from 1 July 2025. The National Assembly published in the Official Gazette Nr. 70 from 20 August 2024 the Law for the Introduction of the Euro, which contains rules for double marking of the prices, double circulation of both currencies, currency conversion, adaptation of information systems and registers, accounting and tax documents and declaration, and changes in all affected laws (including VAT).
