Due to the partial transfer of the jurisdiction to give preliminary rulings from the Court of Justice of the EU to the General Court as of 1 October 2024, the rules of procedure of both instances have been amended. The new rules also modernise and simplify procedures in both bodies. The amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Court of First Instance relate primarily to certain aspects of the structure and organisation of the Court of First Instance, including the creation of a Medium-sized Chamber and the assignment of requests for preliminary rulings to Chambers specifically responsible for hearing those cases.
