Second phase of CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) project scheduled

Starting on 21 October 2024, Release 2 (R2) of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system will become the official platform for both resident and nonresident importers to assess and pay duties and taxes on commercial goods imported into Canada. The new CARM Client Portal (CCP) will be the central hub for accounting and revenue management, and importers will need to register on this portal under R2. Importers will also be required to obtain their own financial security for customs purposes, as security posted by customs brokers will no longer extend to importers. Importers registered for the CCP prior to 21 October 2024 will have an additional six months to acquire their own financial security.
