The Finnish Ministry of Finance is seeking public input on proposed changes to reduce VAT rates. This includes shifting some supplies currently taxed at 10% to a 14% rate, such as passenger transport, accommodation, medicines, books, sports services, and cultural events. However, newspapers and magazines would remain unaffected. Additionally, menstrual protection, incontinence protection, and children’s diapers may be moved from the standard rate to the 14% reduced rate. The deadline for comments is August 19, 2024.
