- The Ministry of Economy and Finances and Revenue Agency in Italy has transposed Directive 2014/55/EU and implemented the use of eInvoicing, with a mandatory requirement for receiving and processing by central, regional, and local authorities, as well as economic operators.
- The use of eInvoices in public procurement is based on multiple pieces of legislation, including Italian laws, decrees, circulars, and a legislative decree for transposing the EU Directive.
- The European standard on eInvoicing is fully implemented using FatturaPA (national XML standard) and the Exchange system (Sistema di Interscambio).
- The use of CIUS and Extensions is also required.
- The legislation includes provisions for compliance by non-central entities by April 18, 2020, and a monitoring mechanism is in place.
