More than 330 investigations into VAT fraud in the EU with damage of 11.5 billion euros

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) annual report 2023 shows that at the end of 2023, a total of 1,927 active investigations were ongoing, with a total estimated damage to the EU budget of €19.2 billion, of which 59 percent (€11.5 billion) was related to cross-border VAT fraud.
