Germany introduced a temporary reduction of VAT on gas and district heating in October 2022 as part of the so-called “Third Relief Package” designed to offer relief due to the rising increase in energy prices at the time, this relief will expire on 31st March 2024.
From 1st April 2024 VAT will be restored back to 19% from its current reduced rate of 7%.
