- Qatar’s Ministry of Finance has amended the customs fee structure provided by the General Customs Authority (GCA), with changes effective from May 19, 2023.
- The changes include a flat fee of QAR 200 per truck or container for imported, exported, or transiting goods, and QAR 25 per parcel with a cap of QAR 200 per customs declaration.
- Storage and preservation fees are set at QAR 150 per truck per day or part thereof after 24 hours of entering the customs office.
- A fee of 1% of the value of precious storage boxes per day is also due during the preservation period.
- The total amount of storage and preservation fees must not exceed half of the customs value of the goods.
- The decree also approves the fees associated with various customs services, documents, and licenses that currently apply.
- The changes suggest that the GCA in Qatar is revising its customs-related revenue collection authority to get greater clarity regarding the application of the rules.
