One year ago today (March 31, 2023), the Wise Person’s Group on the Future of Customs published its recommendations on the next steps for the EU Customs Union. In particular, the group’s report advocated making EU customs more coherent and simpler for businesses, more useful in supervising supply chains and more agile dealing with the digital and green transitions. Later this spring, the Commission will come forward with its proposals on how to get us there!
