According to recent reports, Facebook (Meta) may have to pay an estimated VAT bill of EUR 870 million in Italy for the period 2015 to 2021 after prosecutors launched an investigation into the company. The investigation was opened by Milan magistrates at the request of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) to check whether there is a case for user registrations to be subject to tax.
