From January 1st, the obligation to send, receive and store electronic invoices for private sector entities liable for VAT, in accordance with the Law on Electronic Invoicing, through the Electronic Invoicing System came into force.
“In a little more than two weeks, since the beginning of the year, 3,065,630 electronic invoices were exchanged, of which 2,537,773 were between economic entities, and 527,857 were between users of public funds and economic entities, which shows how readily the economy welcomed the electronic invoicing system” , explains State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Slavica Savičić.
She added that this is the result of a high-quality dialogue with the economy, that is, continuous communication in the previous period.
“A total of 10,312,749 electronic invoices have been exchanged since May 1, 2022. From the beginning of this process, there was good communication with the economy and many suggestions were adopted, which resulted in a series of improved systems and functionalities as well as improvements in the operation of the electronic invoice system itself,” explains State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Slavica Savičić.
The use of the e-invoice system is free and its application is expected to speed up business processes, as well as improve business through additional legal security.
Savičić adds that for the majority of businessmen who use digital services, the application of electronic invoices is another new system that is simple and intuitive to use. He notes that those who have not registered so far should do so as soon as possible, and as a first step it is necessary to have an eID (electronic identification), while the process itself is quick and easy to master.
