On 8 December 2022, the European Commission proposed various measures as part of its project to reform the VAT system in order to adapt it to developments in the economy and digital technologies and to better combat fraud via a new draft directive (“VAT in the digital age” or “VIDA”). This draft Directive aims to improve the collection of additional revenue for Member States while helping businesses to simplify their reporting obligations in terms of VAT.
