- By the regulation, we restore zero VAT for medicinal products financed from public collections started during the epidemic.
- The 0% VAT rate for such drugs may be applied retroactively, i.e. from May 17, 2022.
- For collections started after the epidemic was canceled – i.e. after May 16, 2022 – the previous taxation rules, i.e. the 8% rate, apply.
With the cancellation of the epidemic, the preference for drugs imported from abroad, the sale of which was then financed from public collections, expired. The introduced 0% VAT rate for such drugs was in force from April 25, 2020 to May 16, 2022 and was associated with restrictions caused by the pandemic. In view of the signals in this regard reaching the Ministry of Finance, it was considered justified to restore the possibility of applying the 0% preferential rate for deliveries of the above-mentioned medicinal products financed by public fundraising organized by public benefit organizations, started during the epidemic, i.e. on 16 May 2022 at the latest.
The condition for applying the reduced VAT rate is meeting certain documentation requirements.
On July 13, 2022, the ordinance introducing relevant regulations in this area was signed.
