Are you longing for the summer already?
Today, March 21, is the start of spring. At least, that’s the official date. Meteorologically, spring started on March 1, already, and astronomically it depends on the position of the sun, causing spring to have started yesterday, om March 20 (although that can change per year).
With (hopefully) more sun and longer days, it also means that inevitably we will start hearing something that comes back every year: the summer hit song! It’s that song that you will hear in every bar or on the car radio, especially in July and August. And in 5 or 10 years from now, every time you hear that song it will remind you of that great sunny beach, that hiking trip or the lovely boy or girl that you met during the summer vacation.
Do you know that there’s actually a recipe for such a summer hit? Besides musical creativity and talent, someone may just create that earworm that you will hate when you find yourself singing along to it in September, but adding a couple of ingredients.
You can find a recipe for a summer hit HERE
You start with a key in a major chord. You add an up-tempo flavour, preferably an ‘exotic’ language (Spanish always works well), and an interesting, catchy rhythm. If you can add a nice video clip with sun, beach and sexy boys and girls, you probably only need a popular singer and BAM, you have your hit.
Or not. Creating music of course isn’t that simple. It’s like doing business, you also need a lot of luck and you need to be at the right place on the right time.
And it’s also like that with VAT. Every business is different. You apply the basic VAT rules to the photograph that you make of the business and its activities, and then you start to shape, mould, interpret and, if possible, discuss with peers. That’s also why VAT is so much fun. We create hit songs every day. Perhaps not everyone can hear it, but we know that if you visit VATupdate every day, we hear you humming catchy tunes under your breath: “ECJ cases, invoicing, reporting…”
We are glad to sing along!
