For a long time, the VAT taxation of online mail order companies based outside the EU encountered significant practical problems. In recent years, the Berlin tax administration has made great progress as a result of changed legislation and has now reached an important milestone: According to a current evaluation, more than 100,000 VAT accounts were opened by the end of January, which belong to companies from the group of countries with the strongest growth. This includes the People’s Republic of China (including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macau Special Administrative Region) and Taiwan.
