Poland’s Ministry of Finance has issued a release announcing a reduction in tax rates on energy supplies. This includes a reduction in the VAT rate on supplies of:
- Natural gas from 23% to 8%;
- Electricity from 23% to 5%; and
- Thermal energy from 23% to 8%.
The reduction applies from January to March 2022. The release also notes that the Ministry is asking the European Commission for the possibility of temporary application of zero VAT on food, natural gas, electricity, and heat and a reduced VAT (from 23% to 8%) on fuel.
