A number of DPR members rejected the government’s proposal to impose a value added tax (VAT) on basic necessities, education services, and health services. The policy plan is considered not to provide basic rights to the community and will burden the community.
The plan will be contained in the Draft Law (RUU) concerning the Fifth Amendment to Law Number 6 of 1983 concerning General Provisions and Tax Procedures. Until now, the implementation plan is still being discussed by the Ministry of Finance (Kemkeu) together with the Working Committee (Panja) of the Tax Procedures Bill (KUP) Commission XI DPR
