Gold coins for computer role playing are not a means of payment that is exempt from VAT

The Noord-Holland District Court ruled that the gold coins in which X traded cannot be regarded as a means of payment. They are not comparable to bitcoins, so the VAT exemption does not apply to X’s virtual currency.
