The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) will assume the management and supervision of the infrastructure for e-invoicing (and therefore the role of Peppol authority) as of 1 October 2020. RVO is involved in the implementation.

From research has shown that the public importance of a secure and reliable infrastructure for e-billing requires a larger and more active role of the government.

Safe and reliable infrastructure

In order to ensure a safe and reliable digital infrastructure in the future, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations will take over the role of Peppol authority from the private foundation Simplerinvoicing.

Cooperation between RVO, Logius and the Telecom Agency

From 1 October, RVO and Logius will assume the executive tasks of the Peppol authority. A joint implementation organization will be set up for this. The Telecom Agency (AT) will independently supervise the system of agreements and will work closely with RVO and Logius.

What is Peppol?

Peppol is a standardized digital exchange infrastructure for sending and receiving electronic invoices. The Peppol infrastructure is provided by authorized service providers. These service providers work together in a system with joint agreements: the Peppol Agreement System. The Dutch Peppol authority ensures that the admitted participants adhere to the joint agreements on the safety, reliability and mutual communication of the digital infrastructure.
