The Public Prosecutor’s Office demanded prison sentences of up to five years at the Almelo District Court in a case in which seven men and two companies were sued for organised VAT carousel fraud and the laundering of half a billion euros’ worth of revenue from it. According to the judiciary, the suspects were presumably involved in the deliberate misrepresentation of VAT returns and forgery by setting up a fictitious trade flow.
