The Court of Justice of the EU has now made public new types of documents.
Most notably, references from national courts are now available within the Court’s case-law database, with orders for references from cases lodged after 1st July 2018 made public in all EU languages.
In a new section on the website, the Court has grouped together sets of documents including its research notes (link), legal monitoring publications (link) and fact sheets on specific subject areas (link). Whilst the latter two types of documents were already available on the website, the publication of research notes is a new initiative which the Court hopes will help enhance the combined knowledge of the legal community.
A further page will, over time, bring together decisions of national courts (link) which are of particular interest for EU law.
This was made possible through collaboration with the Constitutional and Supreme Courts of the Member States within the Judicial Network of the EU. This network seeks to strengthen judicial cooperation in Europe to ensure a high level of justice. By opening up the documents initially shared through this network, it is hoped that the legal community as a whole can benefit from this enhanced cooperation.
