Spanish VAT requirement changes

The Spanish government has announced the it is bringing in changes to the way Tax Returns are filed. Effective from the 1st of July 2017 taxpayers who file monthly VAT returns will be obliged to prepare the VAT Books through the tax authorities’ website. This is similar to the SAFT changes brought in in other European countries recently. What will be changing? VAT Books prepared through the tax authorities website Provide information about invoices issued within 4 days of the issue Provide information about invoices received within 4 days of them being booked Deadline to file VAT returns extended to 30th day of following month Tax payers that comply will not have to file the Annual Summary of Operations or Annual VAT Summary return Who does if effect? VAT Groups Taxpayers with a revenue exceeding €6,010,121 Taxpayers included in the Special Register to receive monthly VAT refunds More details are expected to be released in the near future and businesses will be given a transition
