Pakistan’s government reduced domestic oil prices due to price declines in international markets, thereby affecting the amounts of sales tax and petroleum development levy. To offset the impact of falling revenue collection, the sales tax rate for petroleum products sold after 31 December 2014 was increased to 22 percent (from 17 percent).
